Welcome to

Four Chances to Gather Words

Unlike many blogs, Fourchances is a place where I can  present many different ideas, rather than staying within the boundaries of a one concept for a blog and not fulfilling the requirements for being a daily journal because it is filled with a variety of  stories. I hope you will enjoy the stories, remembrances and musings, as well as other, elements throughout the year.

Please use the comments section to let me know what you liked, or if you have a suggestion.

A list of my current posts are on in a list in the left column of each page. If you prefer knowing more than a name of a writing then use the tags that appear in the tag cloud to help you find the type of a story you would like to read.

The Sweet Child is a lovely poem. It’s a little sad, but I think we’ve all felt the sadness of judgement. I’ve lived the life of the little child, desiring love and acceptance…offering my love without getting anything in return.

Thankfully, my life is no longer that struggle for emotional fulfillment. I have a lot of love in my life and have tremendous support and acceptance with my family, friends and church family.

Some people talk about how they’d love to go back and be a child again, but not me. I’ll just stay here in the present, where life is a gift and I’m not that little child longing to fit in…or to fade away.

Lynda,
Well, I can’t lie, I am not like my mother who lives for tomorrow. I usually live in the goodness of the past. It is very difficult to break that habit. I try and sometimes win. Now that doesn’t mean I can’t plan, etc. because I do,, but I am not the one to make the major change by deciding that should happen tomorrow. Guess I am to skeptical of its success.

I am so glad you commented again, because I have a note to email you and thank you for being so wonderful to come and visit fourchances so often and enjoy many of the stories. I appreciate you doing that. I was always amazed how you found it in the first place.

Once again thank you for being the friend you are…….
my best to you always,
Frank

Frank,
The smilebox showcases your flowers beautifully…I love them and look forward to spring so that I can ask you tips on how to get something to flower or grow…

Thanks for the breath of spring from this Indiana Icebox…

This makes me want to buy seeds and start growing flowers….it is too soon…HELP!

Comment by shadowlands1501

Yesterday I needed my flowers to think about so the other stuff could go away!! I must add some more roses for my mother. Ema, who was Banilean and now gosh I forget, each of us has a miniature rose garden==hers for Raul and mine is Momma’s. I will send you some tips on miniature roses and then you can make one for Dan. I will make for Ema and I small dedication plaques for each of our gardens. I could make one for Dan if you want to have a little garden in his memory. Doesn’t have to be roses, but the little miniature ones from the grocery stores are so easy to grow out side and they really are a treat to watch grow.

Oh, yes, Frank, please….
The day that Dan died, the kids and I planted a Japanese Maple tree that I nutured over the three years he was sick. The sapling was from the tree that was in his parent’s yard and there were many that had spouted. Dan showed me where he wanted the tree planted. It is outside of the bedroom window. I can make a small garden around the base of the tree and that will be Dan’s Memorial Garden.

Maybe, after the years have passed and the tree has weathered the Indiana winters, I can put a bench in the midst of the garden and think on him with your plaque that let’s everyone know that he is not forgotten…

PS…and I love minature roses….

I shall send you some tips on planting the little roses. Some time, give some thought as to what you would like on the placque and let me know. You might want a specific shape. Don’t worry I can handle whatever!!

I also planted a japanese maple in the big rose bed that was the original one I planted for my mother. I also hope it can sustain itself in the snow. Snows fine but mine is in a wind tunnel and they do not like that at all!

The little Japanese Maple is buried in snow right now. I am hoping that it is a warm blanket more than a “toe freezer”.

Thanks for the offer of a plaque. Dan would want it in a shape of a bass violin or a Harley…either one is fine with me…

I am sorting out seeds. If I have seeds that say they are ready for Spring 2007, are they too old to plant this year?

Just thinking on Spring and planning a garden…also, will the minature Roses handle intense heat and sun? That is the nature of the area where the tree is planted…

The harley sounds fun to do. I will send you an email on seeds

You asked why I started this blog was mainly because I had another blog that I needed to keep all writing within one concept. there were stories that I wanted to write, but on Crepusculum I couldn’t and so I opened Fourchances. It has allowed me to write what I feel when I feel it.
Come back again if you like it.
